Forgiveness
Forgiveness is how much a driver's result suffers when you miss the centre of the face. More forgiving heads are designed to twist less, so off-centre hits tend to finish straighter.
Loft
Loft is how much the face is angled upwards. More loft generally launches the ball higher and can add spin. There is no single right loft.
Shaft flex
Flex is how much the shaft bends. Labels such as Regular and Stiff are not standardised between makers, so the exact shaft model tells you more than the letter. Read our shaft flex guide
Spin
Spin is how fast the ball rotates backwards. Less spin gives a flatter flight, but lower is not automatically better. The right amount depends on your swing.
Adjustability
Many drivers have an adjustable sleeve where the head joins the shaft, which changes the loft slightly. Some also have movable weights. A used driver may not be set where you want it, so ask us.
